A Little Bit of Everything
So there have been some things that I have wanted to just write a few thoughts on, so don't mind me if I jump from one topic to a totally different one.
First off I just wanted to vent about health insurance. I have been so grateful for our insurance over the years, never ran into any trouble with them covering my medical needs. Recently I have experienced much frustation with the whole system. I desperatly want to see a Rheumotologist that isn't covered in network. I wont go into the many reasons why this one in particular is important. But through two appeals my insurance has denied covering him as in network even after hearing the justifications. I now am going into what is called a third appeal. It will include the people that reviewed my first two appeals and then a board of doctors from L-3 Commmunications in New York. Come to find out, out insurance doesn't decide what will be covered or not, it is L-3 and its board members. I found that rather odd and interesting. So I have begun to arm myself with every possible document about my health history so they can "review"(whatever that really means) and make the final decision. So yesterday a went around to all my specialist and gathered my records from them.
This leads to my second topic. Yesterday I sat an read some of the medical notes about my heart surgury and what they found. Man they put absolutly everthing that happened in there. I think if someone sneezed in the OR it would have been recorded. ( O : Anyway, that whole event is a blank for me since I was never awake to know what was going on. I'm sure that my family wouldn't have found the reading as interesting, since they were there waiting through all of it. I will try to not get to into the details, but my Cardiologist explained how they did the surgery. From cooling my body down to 28 degrees C, the process of putting me on bypass. Then he talks about how they purposly made my heart go into Cardiac arrest. I never new the details like that before. At first it was a little creepy thinking that my heart was just not beating and a machine was keeping me alive. But as I have has some time to think about it more, it isn't creepy or scary, but purely amazing! Sure I whish I didn't have to discover the amazing abilities of doctors these days with my having to under go heart surgery. But I am just grateful for those that have come before us and developed these amazing abilities. Just think, they can stop a heart, fix it and start it beating again, as good as before. Because of this technology, and the skills of the doctors I am here today along with my beautiful Madalynn. Many times we pass through really scary situations, but the outcome is more beautiful than you could have imagined. I am so grateful for all those involved in saving my life that day. I'm sure Heavenly Father is so pleased with the service that they give to so many, I know I am!
As I am posting this today, I realized that it is my two year anniversary of my surgery. That's kind of funny and ironic...
